These steps should fix most cable internet connection issues; however it may not resolve all problems. If you are not familiar with the type of devices, it is helpful to physically mark each one with something like tape for future reference.
Unplug the devices marked Modem, ATA, and Router. Only unplug the power/electrical cable.
Plug in the device marked Modem. Wait 3 minutes before proceeding.
Plug in the device marked Router. Wait 3 minutes before proceeding.
Plug in the device marked ATA (phone box). Wait 3 minutes before making a test phone call.
